Dress: Target | Necklace: H&M | Clutch: similar | Shoes: Belk | Watch: Kate Spade | Bracelet: cookie lee

I came home the other today to find this super cool magazine clutch waiting for me. I’d seen them on other blogs before so I was super stoked to get one as a surprise gift from my aunt (you should check out her adorable Etsy shop for monogrammed/personalized baby clothes, blankets, etc!). I knew immediately that I had to feature it here on SF, and once I started putting my outfit together, I paired it with a cookie lee bracelet that my aunt also gave me YEARS ago that I still wear today. (Who knew she influenced my outfits so much, haha)

This Target dress also comes in mint if that’s what you’re into. And to be so inexpensive, it sure does make me feel fancy. I wore it out the other night for my friend’s birthday in NOLA, and judging from the photo below, maybe I should have gone with the mint option…

Cut Out + Stripes

Dress: Belk (and on sale!) | Clutch: candy apple :: a blog shop | Watch: Kate Spade | Shoes: Target (similar)

The cut out dress trend really scares me- mostly because a lot of dresses have the tummy area cut out. So I really liked that this dress was on trend but cut out the top and back- areas I’m more comfortable with. Also, I just loved the mixed patterns and colors. I feel like my first instinct was to pair the dress with black shoes and black accessories, but on second thought I decided to bring out the brighter summery colors (y’all know that’s a challenge for me).

I bought this clutch last week from candy apple :: a blog shop through a Facebook sale while driving down the road (not safe- I know, but I had to have it). I’ve always been hesitant to purchase things through Facebook, but now that I’ve done it and see how easy it is, it could be very dangerous for my checking account. It’s really all Paypal’s fault. It makes everything SO freakin’ easy. Like easy enough I can shop while driving.

Open Back Dress Trend + Big Announcement

Friday, June 21st, 2013

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

The thing I love about this trend is the variety. All five of these dresses have open backs but all are different. It’s really up to you if you want a lot of skin showing or just a little. Or at the top or the bottom. I think my favorite is the ASOS wrap dress (No. 4) with just a teeny tiny part of the back showing. Plus, one way to stay cool this summer is to just not have a back to your dress at all. Problem solved!

Now for the BIG announcement! On Tuesday I accepted a new teaching position in Baton Rouge, so it looks like I’m headed South again! I’ll be teaching 7th grade English at the most amazing school, and I could not be more excited to move back to BR where my little blog first began. But be prepared for future tweets/posts/Instagrams of stressed out Leslie making yet another move…

Coral Polka Dots

Dress: Forever 21 | Heels: Salt & Pepper | Necklace: Etsy | Watch: Michael Kors

Happy Tuesday! Only three more days of school for me until it’s summer!! I’m so ready to be spending my days laying by the pool catching up on cheesy teen lit and my tan.

Unfortunately, I’m spending the next few days moving out of my house. Everything I own is going in storage until I can find a new place (thanks to my landlady deciding she wanted her house back). It’s going to be difficult to be a fashion blogger with no closet. But we will make it work!

On to my outfit… This coral color is huge for the summer. No secret about that. On Forever 21′s website it calls it “Red” but I definitely think it’s more corral-y. Unless I’m just colorblind. If so, y’all tell me now so I stop embarrassing myself.

This dress also comes in mint (another huge spring/summer color). Belt included, and for less than $25! And I love the polka dot print!

Dress: JCPenney | Shoes: Target | Purse: Warehouse (similar) |
Earrings: Salt & Pepper

OK, so this dress isn’t new. I’ve had it about a year. But I love the length. I’m only 5’2″ so finding a dress this style that doesn’t drag the ground is always a challenge. I’m also noticing how short the fronts of these high-low dresses are getting! Why is that a thing??!

So this dress is definitely perfect as far as length in the front and back. Definitely work-appropriate for the spring and summer. Oh that’s right.. I don’t work in the summer! :) Only a few weeks left and I’m free of my little rascals for a few months! I think I’m gonna make it.

Don’t forget about the giveaway happening through Monday. Enter to win a pair of Six Degrees Hair Ties!
