10 Summer to Fall Transition Pieces

Tomorrow is the first “real” day of fall and while I’m so ready to trade out my shorts and sandals for boots and scarves, this 90 degree Louisiana just isn’t letting that happen. It’s not time to ditch my summer favorites despite what my September issues have been telling me.

Is it just me or are September and October always especially difficult months to get dressed? Because clearly it’s warm enough to wear tank tops and shorts, but I have so many new fall favorites that I’m ready to start wearing. Come close to November I’ll do a full closet season switch, but for now I’m wearing some of my favorite summer staples to transition into the cooler months like this leopard kimono over a summer dress. Fall Fringe and Leather

Good morning, y’all! It almost got cool enough to wear jeans this past weekend! So I’m officially excited for fall and couldn’t wait to break out the leather and this long-sleeve fringe top! Fringe and leather are definitely the two biggest fall trends I’m most excited about-especially paired together. This is my idea of a perfect fall transition outfit! Plus, y’all know I’m a sucker for fun sleeves! Shop similar items below and some of my favorite leather pieces!

Ethnic and tribal prints have also been quite popular this past season and leading into the fall. The bold colors and patterns are taking over everything from my wardrobe and home decor to my iPhone case and jewelry. I have several Aztec print and embroidered tops, skirts, and tanks that I’ll transition into the fall months until I can replace them with tribal-print scarves and cardigans. With such statement pieces as these, wear lighter accessories and jewelry.

Favorite Cork Clutches

Last week several of you asked about this cork clutch that is unfortunately no longer available. It was once sold at NastyGal, Nordstrom, and Chico’s, but it’s out of stock everywhere I’ve looked! Hey, Penelope’s Grand Opening

Monday, August 18th, 2014


One of our favorite local brands opened its first storefront this weekend! Hey, Penelope is now open on Jefferson Highway across from Towne Center in Baton Rouge- less than 5 minutes from my house, so it could get dangerous!

I stopped in on Saturday to check out the new store and do some shopping for some new purple and gold for football season. Desiree, the owner and designer, gave me the grand tour. Hey, Penelope has all the original tees and tanks, plus a selection of jewelry, shoes, and other accessories. Desiree said she also plans to expand with other boutique items in the near future!
