Fall Transitions with Red Dress Boutique

Thursday, October 2nd, 2014

Last week, I talked about my difficulties transitioning into a fall wardrobe in this crazy, muggy Louisiana weather. It’s a daily struggle between wanting to wear layers and my cute new boots with the need to wear sandals and shorts. The struggle is real, y’all (ok, that’s a little dramatic, but seriously). Rumor has it that it’s supposed to get into the 50s this weekend! That’s…like…real fall for us!

In the meantime, I’m still wearing summer pieces and incorporating fall accessories into the mix. Take this ‘Cruising Cape Town’ dress from Red Dress Boutique, for example. It’s bright tribal print was a big hit this summer and will continue to be quite trendy into the coming season. Once the weather cools down, pair it with tights, ankle booties, a leather jacket and you’re ready to go! Oh, and don’t forget the wool floppy hat… because those are pretty much my favorite accessories throughout the fall and winter!

10 Summer to Fall Transition Pieces

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

Tomorrow is the first “real” day of fall and while I’m so ready to trade out my shorts and sandals for boots and scarves, this 90 degree Louisiana just isn’t letting that happen. It’s not time to ditch my summer favorites despite what my September issues have been telling me.

Is it just me or are September and October always especially difficult months to get dressed? Because clearly it’s warm enough to wear tank tops and shorts, but I have so many new fall favorites that I’m ready to start wearing. Come close to November I’ll do a full closet season switch, but for now I’m wearing some of my favorite summer staples to transition into the cooler months like this leopard kimono over a summer dress. Click through the widget below to see my top 10 summer to fall transition pieces and my tips on how to style them!

p.s. This past weekend was my 26th birthday! Thanks to all those birthday wishes on Instagram! You guys make my day :)

Fall Fringe and Leather

Tuesday, September 16th, 2014

Good morning, y’all! It almost got cool enough to wear jeans this past weekend! So I’m officially excited for fall and couldn’t wait to break out the leather and this long-sleeve fringe top! Fringe and leather are definitely the two biggest fall trends I’m most excited about-especially paired together. This is my idea of a perfect fall transition outfit! Plus, y’all know I’m a sucker for fun sleeves! Shop similar items below and some of my favorite leather pieces!

Ethnic and tribal prints have also been quite popular this past season and leading into the fall. The bold colors and patterns are taking over everything from my wardrobe and home decor to my iPhone case and jewelry. I have several Aztec print and embroidered tops, skirts, and tanks that I’ll transition into the fall months until I can replace them with tribal-print scarves and cardigans. With such statement pieces as these, wear lighter accessories and jewelry.

Callin’ Baton Rouge | LSU Gameday Outfit with Animal Prints

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014

Somewhere along the way all the girls in Baton Rouge voted on leopard as being an acceptable gameday print. It’s not tiger, but it’s close enough and goes perfectly with all the purple and gold outfit combinations on Saturdays. Plus, I always enjoy wearing nontraditional gameday attire like this cream colored dress with a leopard kimono. It’s a great alternative to a LSU tee and shorts!

I completed my outfit with Louisiana-inspired accessories including this Freret & Napoleon oyster necklace, purple and gold tassel bracelet from The Royal Standard, Louisiana necklace from Anna Liv Design and a mustard yellow clutch. Shop similar items at the bottom of this post!
