Last week, it was all about the accessories for LSU game days. Today, it’s about the purple and gold clothing. I seriously LOVE this color combination (even though I may be a bit bias). Even if you’re not an LSU fan, purple and gold just works. And how about that fringe vest? Adorable and can be styled so many ways- game days or not. All items found at Frock Candy.

Today, I’m teaming up with some fabulous Louisiana gals to kick off our Saints Style collaboration. In celebration of the first game of the season, we’ve all styled our best black and gold looks just for you.

I wanted to keep it local with a little New Orleans flair, so I picked this adorable Sarah Ott fleur de lis tee. This week in DIG, I encouraged readers to think outside box when it comes to game day tees. There are so many unique T-shirt designs to choose from, including this flag tee.

And did you notice my NFL-approved clear clutch purse? The NFL changed their stadium bag regulations this year to speed up the entry process and make things a little safer. This Sarah Ott purse is perfect if you’re planning to make it to a game.

InstaBreak

Where did my Christmas break go?? It’s back to work tomorrow. Time to shape America’s young minds once again. I’ve spent my last day of the holidays grading projects and essays and entering grades. Tomorrow’s going to be a loooong day. Here are a few Instagram snapshots of my (too short) Christmas break:

Christmas Break Instagrams

Have a happy Sunday night

All I want for Christmas is a National Championship (and another roll of duct tape)

Three hours and two rolls of duct tape later, I present you my LSU-themed classroom door for the Christmas Door Decorating contest — complete with a “Let it Sneaux” sign and a honeybadger.

I was sure we’d place, but we didn’t even get an honorable mention. That’s what I get for making a sports-themed door for a bunch of women judges. I’m not bitter or anything. The kids seemed to enjoy it, and that’s what matters, I suppose. Even though I had to constantly answer “Ms. P, what does snox mean?” Try explaining “sneaux” to North Louisiana 6th graders. I also kept getting ask why there was a skunk in the snow…

There’s nothing duct tape and I can’t handle. Just wait until you see my classroom volcano…

Dress for the Game

It’s 44 days until college football season, and if you’re like me, you’re already thinking about the perfect game day outfit.

And then there are girls like Heather who make it so easy for us. In June, she started Dress for the Game — an online boutique specializing in college game day dresses that coordinate with school colors.

Heather — a law student in Nashville who didn’t go to a “football” school — came up with the idea after an exhausting search for the perfect tailgating outfit for a gamedate with her boyfriend (now husband).

SF: You said you wore the “wrong” thing to the game?
Heather: I had a funny/bad experience at my first SEC football game. I did not wear a dress and did not wear school colors, so I stuck out pretty bad.

SF: So not having anything to wear inspired Dress for the Game?
Heather: I didn’t want that to happen to other girls that didn’t go to a football school. Second, I moved to New Orleans and made friends with some LSU fans. I needed some purple and gold attire to attend the games. So, I began to think about all the people who move and don’t have access to stores that carry their schools colors or want to attend other games with friends.

SF:
What SEC school did your husband go to that started it all? You must have really enjoyed tailgating!
Heather: My husband went to Auburn, and I have been an Auburn fan for a long time

SF: I see you have Alabama, Florida, LSU, etc. in your shop. How did you pick which schools you would cater to?
Heather: I am starting with all the SEC schools, and hopefully I can expand to other teams in the future!
SF: What else can we expect to see from Dress for the Game in the future?
Heather: I have mostly dresses and accessories right now, but I want to expand to shirts and skirts too. The future outlook is more dresses then expanding to other attire, other schools, and I’m in the planning phase of adding a men’s line as well.

SF: Describe your perfect game day look.
Heather: I love the fall weather, so my perfect game day look is a navy sweater dress with tights and flat brown boots with an orange scarf.

Click here to check out all the cute school-spirited dresses and accessories over at Dress for the Game! Even if you’re not a football fan, you’ll find something you love. As a diehard Tiger fan, some of my favorite dresses are the Florida and Alabama ones (but shhh don’t tell…)!

What I Wore: Independence Bowl

I hope everyone has been having a great holiday season! I’ve been driving back and forth to my hometown and busy doing other fun, holiday activities, and my poor little blog has been in the back of my mind.

With today being the last day of 2010 and with all these college football bowl games on, I was trying to think of a quick post I could do to keep my blog from starving to death. So here it is — What I Wore to the Independence Bowl!

Earlier this week the bowl game was in Shreveport… and while I don’t know much about the Air Force or Georgia Tech, tailgating was certainly fun. I was so excited that morning because it was “cold” (about 45 degrees! woohoo!), and I could finally wear one of my favorite coats that I’ve only been able to wear in NY earlier this month. But of course it warmed up that day, and I had a spare poncho/cape in the truck.

I’ve never done an outfit post before (and I didn’t really plan it), so these are just random pictures taken throughout the day. All outfit information is below….

I featured this Decree coat a while back in a teal post. I bought mine from JCPenney. It’s also at Modcloth for $117, but the one from JCP is only $72! The boots are Hannah from Stage with a red zipper in the back… Target has very similar ones.

I got the scarf, gloves and matching ear muffs for Christmas from a boutique called Salt & Pepper in West Monroe, La. The coat has a purple lining in it, so I wore a long-sleeve purple shirt under it. I believe it came from Forever 21… like years ago.

The poncho (even though it’s hard to tell) below is from New York & Co. According to their site, it’s now only $6?!?

That’s all for now. Have a great New Years Eve!

Last Minute Gift Guide: Louisiana Girl

Here’s a quick gift guide for you if you’re a fellow Louisianian, have a New Orleans lover on your list or if you want to buy a gift for…me. I stuck with all things purple & gold, black & gold, fleur de lis and the traditional Southern Living cookbook for your cooking guru.

You’ll see I featured two items from MissMalaprop — she has tons of hand-made and eco-friendly products in her online store. There are a lot of great gift ideas on her site… or if you’re like me, you’ll want it all for yourself!

Product Information: New Orleans Saints tee from Alloy, $27; Saucy Saffron Coat from Modcloth, $65; Purple flats from ShopRuche, $35; Fleur de Lis Drop Earrings from 1928, $22; Michael Kors Black Leather Studded Cuff gloves from Bluefly, $42; Southern Living 2010 Annual Recipes book from Amazon, $23; Zulu Coconut Soap from MissMalaprop, $5.25; Crab Recycled Aluminum Earrings from MissMalaprop, $20; Invicta Women’s Gold-Plated Purple Watch from Endless, $100
