What to wear to a holiday office party

Holiday office parties can be a little tricky when deciding what to wear. Do you dress professionally? Fancy? Like you’re ready to party? Or what?

I asked myself this last week when heading to our faculty party. At school my dress and skirt lengths must meet my knees, so I kept this in mind when picking an outfit to wear. When dressing for work parties, I think it’s most important to consider necklines and hemlines. Be sure to avoid the low cut tops and short skirts. Pencil skirts are great for this!

The outfit today would be perfect for Christmas office parties or any holiday party that you need to dress up a bit. This metallic skirt is the perfect color and length for the holidays and the embellished neckline dresses the top up a bit, so there’s no need for many accessories.

I bought this skirt and top combo at JCPenney on Black Friday. Unfortunately, it looks like these items aren’t available anymore, so I’ve linked to similar items below. The Jacquard Top you see is still available, but in a different color (and it’s on sale for $14.99!)

Christmas Apple Cider Margaritas

Christmas Apple Cider Margaritas | Southern Flair

It’s the last Monday until a 2-week Christmas break for me! And what better way to celebrate Monday than Margarita Monday? Tonight will be a festive Margarita Monday with apple cider margaritas! We tested these out last night (so it’s really a two-day margarita celebration) and finished decorating my Christmas tree and enjoyed my neighborhood’s luminary. I’m thinking tonight will include these Christmas margaritas and “Love Actually” because I’m not sure how I’ve made it this long through December without watching it yet!

Ingredients: (Yield: 2 drinks)

2 ounces tequila
2 ounces Triple sec
6 ounces apple cider
2 ounces orange juice
apple slices for garnish
1 tbsp. sugar for rim
1 tbsp. cinnamon for rim

Directions:

Mix the sugar and cinnamon on a small plate. Run an apple slice (or lemon, lime, or orange) around the rim of your glass. Dip your glass into the sugar and cinnamon mixture to coat the rim. Fill your glass with ice.

In a cocktail shaker, combine 1 cup of ice with the orange juice, apple cider, tequila, and Triple sec. Shake well and pour through a strainer into your glass. Add an apple slice and/or cinnamon stick. I didn’t have cinnamon sticks on hand, so I sprinkled in a little extra cinnamon into my drink.

And that’s all! The perfect festive way to celebrate Margarita Monday during the holidays!

Pajama and Pamper Holiday Gift Guide

Maybe it’s my obsession with “New Girl” or the many many blogger cliche weekend ‘pj and coffee’ posts on Instagram, but I’m thinking I need some pajama/slippers and pillow/blanket combos on my Christmas list this year!

These Forever 21 pajama sets are less than $20 each and I diiie over that “doe” blanket. And seriously how cute is that “2015 Let’s Do This” pillow? That would make the perfect holiday gift!

Do you know someone on your list who would love pjs and cozy blankets for Christmas? If not, these can make great “self” gifts too!
