Fall Transitions with Red Dress Boutique

Thursday, October 2nd, 2014

Last week, I talked about my difficulties transitioning into a fall wardrobe in this crazy, muggy Louisiana weather. It’s a daily struggle between wanting to wear layers and my cute new boots with the need to wear sandals and shorts. The struggle is real, y’all (ok, that’s a little dramatic, but seriously). Rumor has it that it’s supposed to get into the 50s this weekend! That’s…like…real fall for us!

In the meantime, I’m still wearing summer pieces and incorporating fall accessories into the mix. Take this ‘Cruising Cape Town’ dress from Red Dress Boutique, for example. It’s bright tribal print was a big hit this summer and will continue to be quite trendy into the coming season. Once the weather cools down, pair it with tights, ankle booties, a leather jacket and you’re ready to go! Oh, and don’t forget the wool floppy hat… because those are pretty much my favorite accessories throughout the fall and winter!

10 Summer to Fall Transition Pieces

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

Tomorrow is the first “real” day of fall and while I’m so ready to trade out my shorts and sandals for boots and scarves, this 90 degree Louisiana just isn’t letting that happen. It’s not time to ditch my summer favorites despite what my September issues have been telling me.

Is it just me or are September and October always especially difficult months to get dressed? Because clearly it’s warm enough to wear tank tops and shorts, but I have so many new fall favorites that I’m ready to start wearing. Come close to November I’ll do a full closet season switch, but for now I’m wearing some of my favorite summer staples to transition into the cooler months like this leopard kimono over a summer dress. Click through the widget below to see my top 10 summer to fall transition pieces and my tips on how to style them!

p.s. This past weekend was my 26th birthday! Thanks to all those birthday wishes on Instagram! You guys make my day :)

Moss Green Trend for Fall 2013

Wednesday, November 27th, 2013

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

At this point, let’s just consider moss green a neutral. It’s one of fall’s biggest colors, and it goes with everything. And as you can see from the items above, everything from boots and bags to accessories and makeup comes in this lovely shade of green. Definitely one of my fall favorites!

It also makes a great color for the Thanksgiving holidays. I’m headed to my hometown today, so this post is short and sweet. I’ve been painting aaaallll break so far. This new house is well on its way though! Maybe by summer it will be finished hah!

a little bit of fall

Friday, December 7th, 2012

Will it ever stay cooler than 70 degrees?? It’s so hard to get into the Christmas spirit with all this warm weather. But I’m trying my best! Christmas tree is up and a little bit of shopping done. And only two more weeks of school and I’m off!

Speaking of school… I love these shoes, but they were not made for standing up teaching in all day in that’s for sure. But the kiddos are learning not to mess with Ms. P when she has on painful shoes. They know I can get a tad grouchy when my feet hurt :)
