Good morning! The real title of this post should be “That time my photographer and I almost got murdered by Robin Hood with a machete.” Because that’s exactly what happened when we were on the levee/railroad tracks trying to beat the sunlight to take these photos. A raggedy “Robin Hood” and his pals run out of the woods (with a dog wearing a sweater and one girl wearing cat ears) literally carrying knives and machetes. It was definitely the scariest/weirdest thing I’ve experienced as a blogger. These guys and gals run at us, jump in our photos, then crowded around until my photographer was brave enough to tell them to leave. She definitely doubled as my bodyguard! They finally carried on down the tracks and we hurried to jet out of there to ensure we didn’t get kidnapped and forced to live in the woods/murdered. Seriously.

I’ll always see polka dots and moonbeams

Product Information: Top c/o JuJu’s Boutique | Skirt from Forever 21 | Heels from Unlisted (also in tan) | Statement Necklace from Groopdealz | Layered Necklace from Macy’s

This is my second outfit to feature this JuJu’s Boutique top. You last saw it styled more casually in my bohemian look under the fringe kimono. Today, I wanted to dress it up a bit and pair it with this full polka dot skirt, which as to be one of my current favorites in my closet.

When I first saw this skirt at Forever 21, I knew I had to have it because I rarely find work-appropriate length skirts at Forever 21. And for less than $25, I couldn’t pass it up. Half my closet is already polka dots, so what’s one more skirt?

Fashion Blogger Flower Power

One of my favorite current spring fashion blogger trends is carrying flowers (especially tulips!) in handbags. And you can bet on seeing my version in an upcoming outfit post! It’s totally not realistic to carry flowers as accessories, but it’s just pretty and the cool thing to do :)

It’s been so “cold” (60 degrees) the past few days, so these pretty flowers and photos are much needed to get me excited about my Easter and Spring Break… which starts at 3 p.m.! Ok, so I really don’t need the photos to be excited, but still. Only three (very rambunctious) classes of 7th graders stand between me and a week of relaxing and doing a whole lot of nothing. This teacher is just as excited as the kiddos.

p.s. My blog went down SEVEN times yesterday. I posted what was probably my favorite outfit to date, so if you missed it thanks to technical issues, check it out here!

How to revamp your Facebook Page the lazy way

Monday, July 29th, 2013

This is something that’s been on my summer to-do list since the winter, and I can finally check it off with three days to spare! For whatever reason adding apps to my fan page became this daunting task that I’d always start, get frustrated with, and then just give up on. But it’s amazing what you can learn through YouTube.

Once I finally figured out how to add the apps, I knew I needed them to look pretty. Y’all know I’m so far from a rockstar when it comes to Photoshop, so I immediately went to Etsy to buy pre-made social app buttons. (why reinvent the wheel, right?) Purchasing the ones you see was a no brainer because they went perfectly with my color scheme and overall style of my blog. They were already sized to 111 x 74 and everything- best five bucks I’ve spent in a while!

Next, I had to update that cover photo that I’ve had for YEARS (seriously, I’ve had the same header since 2010). Since I was already doing things the lazy way, I thought why try harder now? So, I simply resized my blog’s header to fit the Facebook cover size of 851 x 315. Pretty easy.

Just with those few little touches, my fan page looks so so much better. It was in serious need of a makeover, and I’m very happy with the results! Do you follow me on Facebook, if not be sure to head on over and check it out!

Some Much Needed Beach Inspiration

My first week of summer break has certainly been a busy one. I spent a long Memorial Day Weekend in New Orleans for the Southern Girl Blogging Community Meetup. It was so great to get to chat with other bloggers and see what makes them tick. If you’re a Southern Blogger, be sure to join the Facebook group to stay in the loop. And you can see photos from our first event on Foster the Fashion. I got lots of goodies that I can’t wait to share with you guys!

The rest of my week hasn’t been nearly as exciting. As you know, I’m being forced out of my current home because my landlady decided she wants to move back in (how rude). So I’ve spent this week packing millions of boxes it seems like. I have no idea how I’ve managed to obtain so much junk over just two years. It was the same way with packing up my classroom last week. I really will have my own episode of Hoarders one day. You just wait.

I’m trying really hard to get rid of clothes that I know I will never wear again. I guess it’s time I stop pretending I will ever fit into size small and size 2 clothes again. What do you do with all your old clothes? They are still in good condition. A lot of them only worn once. Any ideas??

Anyway, after this week I definitely need some beach time. Unfortunately, that’s not until the end of the month. The pool in the backyard will do for now. Hope you enjoy these pretty pictures today. And have a happy weekend.
