Cowboy boots, dresses, and looking forward to fall

Product Information: Dress: Forever 21 | Laredo Women’s Boots in Brown c/o Country Outfitter | Necklace and bracelet: Forever 21

This summer has been an epic one for me. Getting to travel all over Europe, add new states to my visited list, and make a random trip into Canada has definitely made this summer one of my favorites. While I would love to pack my suitcase and go on another summer adventure, school is starting next week and it’s time to get back into teacher mode and settle back into my routine.

I’m sad to see summer end, but there are so many things I love about fall and this back-to-school time of the year. Mostly, I love fall weather compared to hot Louisiana summers. I wouldn’t mind seeing the temperatures start to drop a bit (even thought we are having a cold front right now.. 72 degrees!! Wooo!). I also love meeting a new group of students and starting the school year fresh. Starting a new year is always so exciting and one of my favorite things about being a teacher (and I love all the school supplies!). And then there’s always fall TV shows, pumpkins spice lattes, cozy cardigans, pretty leaves, and, of course, football.

So I bet you’re wondering about my outfit and what it has to do with fall. When most people think of cowboy boots and dresses, they automatically think Taylor Swift circa 2006. Now y’all know I love me some TSwift, but cowboy boots with dresses takes my brain in a whole different direction and makes me a little nostalgic for football season. Come fall in Baton Rouge, cowgirl boots are a LSU tailgating staple. Something about cowboy boots makes me giddy for cool fall Saturdays, the leaves changing colors on campus, and just having a good time all day long with old and new friends. Maybe cowgirl boots are just southern chic, but cowgirl boots are also a timeless trend that can really be paired with the most trendy pieces for a fresh look.

This mustard yellow woven cami dress is perfect for LSU football (or with its longer length, add a cardigan and you’re ready for work!) These short cowgirl boots from Country Outfitter paired with the dress make it even more tailgating ready, and I’d fit right in on campus. Cowgirl boots are just comfortable for walking around, hopping from tailgate to tailgate, and being on your feet all day.

Are cowgirl boots a go-to for your football tailgates? How do you pair your cowgirl boots with dresses? This post was sponsored by Country Outfitter, but all opinions are my own. At Country Outfitter you can find the perfect pair with so many to choose from to get you fall and gameday ready.

Black Leather Skater Skirt

Wednesday, September 4th, 2013

As soon as I saw this black leather Banana Republic skirt in the September issue of Vogue, I knew I had to have it in my closet. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. After searching at the local Banana Republics, I got some sad news that they were all sold out online and the closest skirt was in Dallas and they didn’t have my size

So if you fell in love with the same skirt trend for the fall, I’ve got some alternatives for you today that are actually a bit more inexpensive than the Banana Republic version.

1. Topshop | 2. H&M | 3. Boohoo | 4. John Lewis | 5. Debenhams | 6. House of Frasser

Is the leather mini skirt trend something you’re trying for fall? Have a great Wednesday and be sure to keep up with Southern Flair on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Pinterest!

Favorite Things

Sunday, July 28th, 2013

Posts have been light this week due to me working in my new classroom and planning to have students in my room by Thursday (and by light, I mean I posted once). I do have several fun things planned to keep my blog rolling through the back-to-school craziness though. I’m so excited to introduce y’all to some brands and shops in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Since I wasn’t able to blog so much this week, I decided to share some of my favorite things I’ve stumbled upon lately.

A Pinch of Lovely’s ‘Bless Your Heart’ Tank: OK, how cute is this?? As much as “Bless Your Heart” comes out of my mouth, I knew I had to have this tank as soon as Krystal posted it. You can purchase it in her Etsy shop and see how she styled it here, here, and here!

Think Twice Style’s Southern Blog Society Meet-Up Recap: After stalking these Louisiana bloggers for a while now, I finally got to meet them in real life! I’m super excited to be living closer to these ladies now and all the awesome blogger meetups in the future. Read Sarah’s recap of the night here.

Stella & Dot’s Fall Collection: Y’all know I’m a sucker for some Stella & Dot. Their fall collection is full of beautiful statement pieces, scarves, and handbags. See the full collection here.

Candy Shop Vintage’s Gold Dragonfly Earrings: I came home last night to find the cutest package from Candy Shop Vintage with these triangular earrings (it even had candy in it!). You may remember last week’s post on splurging and ‘why copycats suck’. It was so interesting to hear Deirdre’s side as an independent designer and you can see where her frustration comes from. She’s definitely not alone in dealing with something like this, so it’s something to think about when purchasing from “cheaper” retail stores.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and be sure to follow SF on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Pinterest!

It seems skinny jeans are the go to when pairing with a chunky sweater. I tried to branch out on the third look. I love the look of a cropped sweater with a high-waisted skirt and boots.

Finding the perfect combat boot

Saturday, December 1st, 2012

1. Steve Madden 2. DSW 3. Dollhouse 4. Sears 5. Charlotte Russe 6. MakeMeChic

This style of boot has been popular for a few years, but I’m just now jumping on the bandwagon. I’ve added a pair to my Christmas list, now I just need to figure out exactly which pair I want. All these combat boots featured are less than $100 and Steve Madden has a TON of styles to choose from. Decisions decisions….
