Happy April! I’m so excited to kick the month off with a NEW list of 30+ Things To Do In Baton Rouge this month. One of my main missions here on Southern Flair is to help you live your best life right here in Baton Rouge, so I’m super pumped about this new monthly series!

And thanks for the awesome feedback on last month’s list and for the suggestions for this month’s calendar!

30+ Things To Do in Baton Rouge, Louisiana This Month - April 2017

Saturday, April 1

Zapp’s International Beer Fest is happening today at the Rural Life Museum! Wanderlust Abby is also hosting her GRAND OPENING party today from 9AM – 7PM. Her new store is located at 4263 B Perkins Rd.

The Ebb & Flow Festival is also happening downtown today and Sunday.

Sunday, April 2

Come Sunday Brunch with ME and the Baton Rouge Fashion Council at our annual Spring Style Brunch. It’s happening from 11AM – 2PM at Pelican House! Local shopping, live music and $2 mimosas!

Monday, April 3

March Madness ends today with the championship game. Head to Walk-Ons or your other favorite sports bar to watch!

Tuesday, April 4

The biggest decision you’ll make today is where to celebrate Taco Tuesday. Lava Cantina? Superior? La Carreta?

Wednesday, April 5

It’s mid-week, and some days you just need a Netflix and (literal) chill night. Swing by Martin Wine Cellar on your way home from work and pop a bag of popcorn and call it done. Adulting his hard.

Thursday, April 6

The Mac & Cheese Fest isn’t until June, BUT they’re hosting a Pre-Sale Launch Party at Curbside starting at 7PM! They’ll be selling selling only 150 tickets at $25 dollars a piece as an early bird special.

Friday, April 7

Live After 5 starts back TODAY!! Grab your lawn chair or picnic blanket and head downtown at 5PM! Grab beers to go at Happy’s (they’re bigger!) and enjoy the spring weather!

The Purple Rack Boutique is also hosting a Ladies Night Out in Prairieville from 6-8PM. Shop new spring arrivals and a 50% off rack. Plus, spend $50, win $50 and shop the Premiere Jewelry pop-up!

Saturday, April 8

Today, is the 2017 Capital Area Heart Walk happening at LSU at the Old Front Nine at 8AM. This 5K walk and donations fight against heart disease and stroke. One million Americans participate in this event across the country each year — you can sign up to walk here. I’ll be out there with the Baton Rouge General Running Club!

Sunday, April 9

The Baton Rouge Blues Festival is happening this weekend (Saturday & Sunday) downtown! The festival originated in 1981, and is one of the oldest blues festivals in America! It’s definitely one of my favorite weekends in Baton Rouge! See the full lineup here!

Monday, April 10

After a weekend of festin’ at The Blues Fest or French Quarter fest, start your week off on the right foot. Try an intense workout at TreadBR!

Tuesday, April 11

It’s National Library Workers Day! Reading a good book on the rooftop of the Goodwood Branch seems like a pretty good plan for a spring day!

(also side note: if you’re looking for some quality entertainment, hang out on the second floor and listen to the librarians answer the phone. They’re basically the phone version of Google. The things that people call and ask are hysterical.)

Wednesday, April 12

Time to enjoy a little Wine Down Wednesday at Bin 77! Their happy hour is 4-6 — see a full menu here.

Thursday, April 13

It’s Rock n Rowe time at Perkins Rowe! You can see a full line up here. Grab happy hour drinks/sushi at Kona (it’s the beeeeest!) or hop over to Lava Cantina’s patio. Either way you’ll be close to the music!

Friday, April 14

It’s Good Friday! Spend the afternoon eating boiled crawfish — my top picks are Sammy’s, Brightside Bar & Grill and Lakeside Daiquiri.

Saturday, April 15

Cooking an Easter meal? Pick up your local produce at the Red Stick Farmers Market! It happens every Saturday at the Main Street Market from 8AM – 12PM. p.s. Thanks to @jessicaschlorke for the recommendation on Instagram!

Sunday, April 16

Happy Easter! The Crowne Plaza is hosting an Easter Buffet from 11AM – 1PM. Adults eat for $26.

Monday, April 17

It’s Margarita Monday! Not wanting to spend a lot during tax week? Did you know TJ Ribbs has margaritas for 99 cents? Yea, that’s not a typo. Literally $1 minus a cent.

Tuesday, April 18

It’s TAX DAY! But on the bright side, you got three extra days to get them done! :)Go have a drink somewhere to recover (maybe back to TJ Ribbs for 99 cent margs? lol).

Wednesday, April 19

Every Wednesday is Burger Night at Pelican House. $5 burgers & $3 beers all night!

Thursday, April 20

Mockler Beverage is hostingthe 6th Annual Crawfête from 6-9PM. Local chefs will showcase their best gourmet crawfish dish and best boiled crawfish. And you get to be the judge! Participants include Bin 77, Kalurah Street Grill, Monjuni’s, and Phil’s Oyster Bar — just to name a few!

p.s. make sure you’ve got the perfect crawfish tee to wear!

Friday, April 21

Following Live After 5, it’s the Third Street Songwriters Festival! Local, regional and national artists will play all around Third Street all weekend, including places like Blend, Stroubes, Jolie Pearl and more. See more info here.

Saturday, April 22

Spend a spring Saturday in Tiger Stadium! Today’s the National L Club Spring Game! Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and it will air on the SEC Network. Admission to the game is freeeeeee.

Sunday, April 23

Thinking of trying somewhere new for brunch? I’m yet to try The Gregory’s Sunday Brunch, so I’m adding it to my list this month! Plus, anything that combines gumbo + grilled cheese, I’m in. See their full brunch menu here.

Monday, April 24

It’s National Pig In A Blanket Day! Seems like the closest thing is at Kolache Kitchen! So swing by for breakfast on your way to work!

Tuesday, April 25

Tuesdays are also for trying something new! Have you tried the new Ava Street Cafe yet? It’s a Vietnamese restaurant located off Essen that opened in late 2016.

Wednesday, April 26

It’s National Golf Day! My dad plays golf every Wednesday, but since we aren’t retired and living the dream like him, we’ll have to settle for a round of putt putt after work. Either way, it’s going down at Celebration Station. I don’t play around when it comes to putt-putt… That is some serious business.

Thursday, April 27

Red Stick Spice is teaming up with Yogalates Instructor Susan Marchand for a Food For Thought: Workout Fuel & Hydration demo. They’ll be talking pre and post nutrition and hydration and cooking delicious drinks and dishes to get you gym ready!

Friday, April 28

It’s Arbor Day, so plant a tree (or at least hug a tree), then head to another fun night at Live After 5! It’s also the first weekend of Jazz Fest in New Orleans!

Saturday, April 29

Run in the 8th annual Happys 5000 at 6PM. The Healing Sole Beer Mile starts at 7:30PM. You can sign up now.

Sunday, April 30

Wrapping up the month with a little Sunday Funday. The Bulldog’s patio seems like the perfect place to end the month. Cheers to May!
