Holiday Recap

That was a fast two weeks! Back to the daily grind today — got lots of homework and lesson plans. I need a vacation from my vacation. I ate entirely too much food & spent too many hours driving back and forth between home and New Orleans. Aaand get to do it all over again this weekend for the national championship! Geaux Tigers!

Here are a few snapshots from my winter break…

Cousins with the grandmother on Christmas Eve!

Presents!

More Presents. And finally started reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks!

A Photo a Day

I loved the idea of this when I saw it on Pinterest. Taking a picture every single day and documenting your year. Whether it’s photos of friends, vacations, food, a new haircut, or just a new pair of shoes you bought, it’s the best way to remember little things and happy moments throughout the year.

This album is from Urban Outfitters and provides lines to describe your photos. You could do this with any album or make a scrapbook. If you’re not so good about printing pictures, there’s also 365project.org, which is free to use. You could also post photos on your blog or start a Facebook album.

Thoughts on this project? It seems like a lot of work, but I bet the end result is amazing. Instead of flying though 2012, it will help you cherish the little things. I can’t wait to start today! Happy New Year!

Badge exchange & blogroll

I just did my first badge exchange with Krystal at A Pinch of Lovely (her blog is awesome — and always so bright, cute and inspiring — go look for yourself!). I want to find more blogs not just for myself to enjoy, but my readers too!

If you’re interested in exchanging badges, leave me a comment or e-mail me at leslie.southernflairblog.com

I’m also about to re-do the ole blogroll over there. I haven’t updated it much in about a year. Some of the links are broken, some bloggers quit blogging (so sad!), and it’s just time to freshen up. If you’d like to be included in my blogroll, leave a comment! I always love finding new blogs and making new blog pals.

If you have your own personal business or online boutique, there’s room for you too! Let’s get in touch! I’m always interested in affiliates or getting good coupon codes or giveaways for my readers! You can e-mail me at leslie.southernflair@gmail.com

Don’t be shy! Can’t wait to meet you or reconnect :)

A few Instagrams…

And I’m back up and running! Finally finished moving into my house & it’s complete with Internet and cable as of today…
I’m on Instagram now, and if you want you can find me through searching Twitter followers or by searching my username (southernflair). Beware though — I post a ton of pictures of my pets! Like these…
These were my festive 4th of July nails:
And these are two pairs of earrings that I made while waiting on the cable man today. I’m really excited with how they turned out and can’t wait to wear them!

Are you on Instagram?? Tell me your username in the comments!

Happy Birthday, blog!

My blog turned 1 year old over the weekend! And what a great year it’s been. Blogging for this year has been an amazing experience, and I’m so glad I decided to get into the blogosphere and meet all you lovely, fashionable and creative blog friends. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next year and after that!

And thank you, thank you, thank you 1000x for all the comments and encouragement over the past year! Receiving new comments/Facebook fans/Twitter followers always excites me, and I always love to hear what you guys have to say.

Thanks again! Have a happy Sunday!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

In celebration of St. Patty’s Day, I wanted to share some of my pictures from Ireland! I studied abroad a few summers ago with the best group of girls ever. We studied PR/Communications in Ireland, Scotland, France and England. Easily best summer ever. I absolutely love Ireland, especially the Temple Bar area and Trinity’s campus in Dublin! And that countryside.. and all the random sheep!

A very large leprechaun and myself

Some of the group on our first pub crawl!

First Day of Class at Christ Church Cathedral!

Free Guinness on the factory tour

Me & my friend Joy with Carlsberg and Bulmers! Yumm!

James Joyce Tower in Sandycove, Dublin

Wicklow

Ever seen P.S. I Love You? This is the lake! And no, Gerard Butler didn't come to my rescue. Sadly.

Have a great St. Patty’s Day!

One year, five cities and counting

Usually, I use Southern Flair as a styling blog and to post outfit inspiration. My new years resolution was to start posting my own outfits, but that’s yet to happen. However, today I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted to update you on the random, unpredictable life of the girl behind the blog.

When I was little, I always liked the idea of having no idea what my future would hold after high school or college. And then I graduated last May and realized the pure terror that comes with the unknown.

I graduated in journalism and knew since I held my first CosmoGirl in 7th grade that I wanted to work in the magazine industry. Throughout college, I worked my butt off at the student newspaper and did the whole magazine internship thing in New York City and took fashion and journalism classes at LSU.

Long story short: I graduated and had no idea what I wanted to do. And still don’t. In the past year, I’ve lived in now 5 different cities — Baton Rouge, Monroe, Shreveport, New York City and as of today New Orleans.

I’ve always been fascinated by bright lights and skyline of NYC, but all it took was the worst snowy winter in history and wearing the same puffy jacket and rainboots everyday to know it’s not my thing. I’m a Southern girl, but a city girl. So that brings me to New Orleans. And what better time to show up than Mardi Gras?

So, Southern Flair is officially a Southern fashion blog again! I couldn’t be more excited about being in Southern Louisiana. There’s certainly no place like it. And I can’t wait to explore my new city!

Happy Mardi Gras! Laissez les bons temps rouler!
