The Louisiana heat can continue to be pretty brutal through the “fall” months. While the folks up north are layering with sweaters and jackets, we’re still blasting the AC on high through December. Unfortunately, that means we have a little difficulty incorporating the latest fall trends (like plaid and suede) into our daily outfits. But that’s OK! We can pair these fall items with our summer clothes and still stay cool and dress for the season! Today I’m sharing how to wear summer prints in fall weather while adding little fall touches to your look!

Now that it’s officially fall, it’s time to break out the scarves, jackets and knee-high boots!
Buuuut that sounds awful.
It’s still 80-90 degrees still here in South Louisiana, so I’m not even close to dragging out my fall clothing. I’m implementing little things here and there like hats and ankle boots to toss in a little fall fashion while still battling the heat.
I wore boots Saturday night and even carried an extra pair of sandals in case my feet got too hot. And thank goodness I did! They were very much needed after such a short time.
Maybe one day we can enjoy our new fall purchases — I hear there’s a cold front coming through soon! Until then, I’m keeping my summer tops out and on full rotation!

I purchased this watermelon-print top this weekend at the Baton Rouge Boutique Blowout Sale! I scored this top, a dress and a tank for around $25. I consider that a win for the weekend.
This is a great time to invest in end-of-season summer merchandise to stick away for next year. But here in the South, keep it in your closet and start wearing it now!
If you missed the Blowout Sale, don’t worry — we’re already working on one for the Spring! Thanks to everyone who came out to support your local boutiques! You can always discover new places to shop on the BR Fashion Council’s Instagram (@brfashioncouncil).
