After months of planning, it’s finally here — The Baton Rouge Fashion Council’s second annual FALL FASHION FEST!
Last year I had this crazy idea to host a tailgating fashion event that could serve as a one-stop-shop for all your game day outfits. I’m super excited to say this event is even bigger and better than last year’s inaugural event!
The main purpose of Fall Fashion Fest is to not only get pumped up for football season, but to get a look at new tailgating trends from some of your favorite local boutiques and designers.
With school starting back and football season in TWO weeks (cannot even contain my excitement!), the fall is just super busy. It’s hard to run around town every week looking for a new outfit, so this way you can purchase your tailgating looks in one spot and add a few new things to your fall wardrobe.
If you’re feeling really ambitious, you can even start Christmas shopping!
Leading up to the event on Saturday, I’ll be sharing even more behind-the-scenes peeks on Snapchat (lesliepresnall — add me here)!
Who: The Baton Rouge Fashion Council
What: Fall Fashion Fest 2016
When: Saturday, August, 27 from 3-7 p.m.
Where: Tin Roof Brewing Co (1624 Wyoming St., Baton Rouge, LA)
This event is free and open to the public. All ages welcome. Must be 21 to enter tap room.
Fall Fashion Fest is your one-stop shop for purple-and-gold tailgating looks. But that’s not all! Local boutiques and designers will have much more than just purple and gold for sale. Some will even have beauty products, jewelry, shoes, and accessories. It’s a great time to create your game day outfits AND add to your fall wardrobe.
And don’t worry guys- there’s even stuff for you!
Vendors include Candi By Brit, Kat Noel Designs, Men’s Garage, Tiger People Clothiers, Simply Chic BR, Shop SFT, Body Sculpt Barre, Maria Christina Designs, Article & Thread, Imagine Boutique, J. Hilburn, Beading By Treva, O Bag Factory, Addiction Boutique, Rodan + Fields, Court & Layne Boutique, Mimosa Handcrafted, The Purple Rack Boutique, Kiyada Upshaw, Elohim + Nim, Beau Lane Boutique, Platinum Pony Boutique and more.
While Fall Fashion Fest isn’t all about the food (I know, most Louisiana festivals ARE about the food), there will be several food vendors and trucks available at the event — in addition to Tin Roof beer on tap.
Cupcake Allie, Crave Macaroons, and City Gelato will be onsite if you have a sweet tooth. And Kona Ice will be there if you’re wanting to squeeze in one more snowball before summer ends.
Taco De Paco will also be there serving up delicious tacos. And Pullin’ Pork will be serving traditional BBQ and even nachos and quesadillas!
I don’t know about you, but cupcakes, snowballs and tacos are just about all I need in life anyway.
Besides shopping at 30+ local boutiques in one spot, we will host an all purple-and-gold fashion show to highlight the best of Tiger game day style. The show will be hosted by the current Miss LSU-USA 2016 Emilie Hebert. It kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and is free to attend. But if I were you, I would arrive early to shop before the fashion show!
Another thing I’m SUPER excited for is the Drybar complimentary braid bar that will be on site at Tin Roof! Yep, they’ll be giving FREE braids all day long! Plus, they’ll be giving out free gift cards for blowouts! You can read more about Drybar here. And I give away blowouts monthly to my Local Edition subscribers!
It wouldn’t be a Baton Rouge Fashion Council event without TONS of giveaways!
When you arrive, stop by the BRFC’s tent to enter them all! Plus, I’ll be hanging out at the tent, so come say hello.
We’ll have giveaways from Drybar, Body Sculpt Barre, Chloe & Isabel, Kat Noel Designs, O Bag Factory, Court & Layne Boutique, Mimosa Handcrafted, Addiction Boutique, The Purple Rack, J. Hilburn, Elohim + Nim and more!
The BRFC will also give away two VIP tickets to its Boutique Blowout Sale happening Saturday, September 24.
We’ll also be auctioning off an autographed photo by Billy Cannon!
A few weeks ago our city and surrounding cities faced a catastrophic flood that devastated South Louisiana. Thousands of people lost their cars, homes and everything they own to the rising water.
There’s still a lot to be done and a lot of people who are in desperate need of our help.
Elohim + Nim and Court & Layne are just a few boutiques who will be donating their proceeds to the flood relief. Court & Layne plans to donate 15% of every sale to help local schools rebuild.
In addition, SFT will have its Cajun Navy tees for sale the day of the event. AND they will be releasing a special purple and gold version of the shirt!
For every shirt sold, $15 will be donated to the BRAF Louisiana Flood Relief Fund to help in the recovery of the flooded Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank as it recovers from 4ft of flood water. So far SFT has been able to raise over $30,000 to donate.
One thing I thought would be fun was to get to know a few of the models a bit! Meet Victoria, Symphony and Charla! These three girls will be part of the fashion show this weekend and sporting tailgating-themed looks from local boutiques. The fashion show kicks off at 5:30 p.m.
Left: Victoria Smorodinova is originally from Russia, but she’s been living in Lake Arthur, Louisiana for 4 years with her family. She’s a sophomore at LSU majoring in finance, and she’s an intern for Congressman Garret Graves. She loves cats, so she regularly volunteers at Cat Haven, a local shelter.
Middle: Symphony Phillips is from Monroe LA and currently attends LSU. She’s studying kinesiology premed and wants to be a psychiatrist. She works at Lewy PT where she’s a physical therapist technician and she also works as an football recruiter for LSU football.
Right: Charla Hughes is from Tallahassee, Florida. She is a PhD student and instructor in the English Department at LSU. When she’s not reading or writing, you can find her doing yoga or running around BR!
As previously mentioned, I’ll be giving you a behind-the-scenes look into the final preparations for Fall Fashion Fest in the next couple days through Snapchat. You can find me at lesliepresnall or add me here.
I’ll also be sharing our set up the morning of and giving you behind-the-scenes info all day long. We’ll meet a few of the designers, boutiques and models involved!
