It’s finally here- this week is OneofaKind Baton Rouge Fashion Week! And this year OBRFW has expanded from three events in 2014 to five events. See a full description of each event below. 2015 Designers
OBRFW 2 will showcase new spring/summer collections by student designers from LSU Textiles, Apparel Design and Merchandising Department, professional designers Perfectly Taylored by Peyton Simms (Baton Rouge), Balloonatic Fashions by Johnathan Darden (Shreveport), MEROCKI by Treva DivaStyl (Dallas), LRFW’s 2014 Clothing Line of the Year Cupani Fashion by Lacie Cupani (Little Rock), Ms Smitty by Jennifer Smith (Maumelle) iME by Brandon D. Campbell (Little Rock) and popular fashion artist Christopher Youngstar (Dallas).
Preview Mixer
Boudreaux and Thibodeaux’s will host a Preview Mixer tonight featuring OBRFW models, designers, make-up and hair professionals. The Preview Mixer will feature some fashion designs created by local designers, featured in OBRFW during the networking event. It is open to the public from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
For Kids by Kids Fashion Show
OBRFW’s first fashion show will begin with For Kids by Kids fashion event on Thursday, Feb. 26th. A fashion experience produced by kids will showcase children clothes from Ms. Smitty, Gap Kids and Refinery Kids. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. at the Shaw Center for the Arts.
BARE Fashion Show
New to OBRFW, BARE, Louisiana’s first “natural” fashion show that will highlight individual beauty, is set for Friday. BARE will feature models with no makeup and feature clothes by Frock Candy, Impeccable Pig and JuJu’s. As an added bonus, BARE will preview fashion labels by participating designers featured in OBRFW. Doors at the Shaw Center for the Arts will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m.
The BIG Night
Saturday, Feb. 28th will highlight the BIG Night at Capitol Park Museum. The BIG Night will feature all new spring/summer collections by student designers from LSU Textiles, Apparel Design and Merchandising Department, professional designers Perfectly Taylored by Peyton Simms (Baton Rouge), Balloonatic Fashions by Johnathan Darden (Shreveport), MEROCKI by Treva DivaStyl (Dallas), LRFW’s 2014 Clothing Line of the Year Cupani Fashion by Lacie Cupani (Little Rock), Ms Smitty by Jennifer Smith (Maumelle) iME by Brandon D. Campbell (Little Rock) and making his return to OBRFW is popular fashion artist Christopher Youngstar (Dallas).
70 models from throughout the state, parts of Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas will strut down the catwalk at the BIG Night.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Show time is at 8 p.m. The dress code is red gala styled evening formalwear. Shop my favorite red dresses below!
Tickets are available on www.batonRougeFashionWeek.com. A portion of the proceeds from events are donated to the Louisiana Museum Foundation in support of an exhibit that features the work of carnival costume designers, Helen Clark Warren and John C. Scheffler. “From the Big Apple to the Big Easy: Two Carnival Artists in New York” will feature approximately 75 framed examples from the artists’ costume illustrations.
