A Pink Mardi Gras- What to Wear to the Spanish Town Parade
Photos by Maggie Bowles
When most people think of pink flamingos, they think of the zoo or tacky lawn adornments. However, when I think of pink flamingos, I think of them as the quirky Baton Rouge Mardi Gras mascot! At the Spanish Town Parade you’ll see everyone wearing lots of pink and crazy costumes.
This year the parade just so happens to roll on Valentine’s Day, so the pink theme really works out! My outfit today doubles as a Spanish Town-Valentine’s Day look with a simple black dress paired with a pink vest. You could easily switch out the black heels for flat boots for comfort (and safety!).
I had so much fun shooting this outfit post at a Downtown Baton Rouge apartment! I have to admit I now want every outfit post ever to include throwing beads off balconies and multiple selfies with flamingos. I seriously could have hung out on this balcony all day enjoying my one-person party and parade.
Plus, our weather has been incredible lately- but I’m just bragging because I know many of you are dealing with crazy snow blizzard right now! Y’all stay warm and have a snow party with yesterday’s New Orleans Mardi Gras Hurricane Cocktail Recipe!

Today I’ve also teamed up with Lala from Lala Land, who is another Baton Rouge blogger. She’s sharing her outfit and telling us what to wear for a nighttime parade! Go check out her post here and tell her hi!
