Baton Rouge Boutique Tour: fab’rik

There’s a new Baton Rouge boutique in town! fab’rik opened at 18303 Perkins Rd (near Alexander’s Highland Market) this summer — yes, in the middle of a pandemic, but that isn’t slowing them down!

Fab'rik Baton Rouge
If you’ve attended our Fall Fashion Fest or a Boutique Blowout Sale in the past couple years, then there’s a chance you’ve shopped with fab’rik before.

Elizabeth Waits brought this franchise to Baton Rouge a couple years ago through pop-up shops and events, and now we finally have a retail space to shop inside. I got to visit with Elizabeth to get the scoop on fab’rik and take a tour of the new space!

What’s fab’rik all about?

fab’rik’s mission is high style with heart, no attitude or sticker shock. It’s a boutique where everyone can afford to feel beautiful, as the concept is fashion under $100. We do this without sacrificing quality or first class customer service. fab’rik is all about high fashion at affordable prices. You can find clothing, handbags, shoes and the best accessories.

What inspired you to join the fab’rik family?

I was inspired by the high style without the sticker shock. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and affordability when I shopped the boutique while on vacation. The more I looked into the brand, I knew it was a great fit because their core values aligned with mine.

Tell us about the journey to create your retail location.

It’s been quite the journey. fab’rik Baton Rouge was in the works for two years before we opened our doors in Highland Park Marketplace in June. We were able to have two pop-up shops for the 2018 and 2019 holiday season while we worked on securing a permanent location. The pandemic was the final delay, but we are so excited to be in this shopping center and know it’s the perfect spot.

What’s been your favorite part of the new space?

My favorite part has been the customers and our neighbors. The customers have been so nice and extremely supportive. They are genuinely interested in the store, the brand, and its success.

The abundance of well wishes and people sharing fab’rik on social media and through conversation with friends and family has helped. The other tenants in the shopping center have been very welcoming and encouraging. There is a nice synergy at Highland Park Marketplace, and the support from our neighbors has been greatly appreciated.

What fall trends are you most excited about?

So many! We’ll still see lots of cropped styles, babydoll dresses, smocking and graphic tees/sweatshirts. We’re excited to feature more animal print, jewel tones, voluminous tops and balloon sleeves in the fall. We aren’t giving up on football season either, so there will be plenty of purple and gold for the Tigers and black and gold for our Saints. Marigold is a must have color for fall so we will be on trend here in Baton Rouge.

fab’rik has VIP parties. How do they work?

The parties are a private shopping event for a group of 10-20. It can be you and your friends, co-workers, or a social group. We close the store early for your exclusive party. It’s a sip and shop, and you can choose to get a 20% discount for the entire group or raise funds for a cause. We will donate 20% of all sales.

Can you tell us more about fab’rik’s nonprofit work?

Free fab’rik is our non-profit. We have a donation bin in our store and we take all your gently loved clothing to donate to a local shelter. Iris: Domestic Violence Shelter in Baton Rouge will receive our first bin donation (thank you so much to our customers that have already filled it up!)

Please think of us the next time you clean out your closet and bring your things to our store. It will go to women in need and you won’t have to haul that trash bag around forever in your car.

What else should we know about fab’rik?

fab’rik Baton Rouge is a locally-owned business. My husband and I have called Baton Rouge home since 2005. We are looking forward to our first small business venture and building connections in our local community.
