After all the terrible weather Louisiana has seen in the last week, I’m looking forward to finally enjoying the sunshine! Now that the time has changed and we have more daylight (no more 7:30 p.m. bedtime for me!) and with the first official day of Spring this weekend, it’s time to make my spring plans!
Usually for me that involves just getting outside more whether that’s a on a patio or being more active outdoors. My mood can get all out of whack during the winter, so I’m excited to soak up some sun and enjoy fun spring activities that Baton Rouge and South Louisiana have to offer. See how I plan to celebrate spring in today’s post!

- Go to more outdoor concerts
There’s nothing I enjoy more than a nice casual evening spent outside listening to live music. In Baton Rouge, we have Live After Five, Rock n Rowe Thursdays and Sunday in the Park — all outdoor music series to enjoy during the spring and fall. Grab a lawn chair and some friends and head on out!

2. Play and enjoy outdoor sports
Here in Baton Rouge, it’s so nice to spend a weeknight or a Sunday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium watching the LSU baseball team. Days spent at the ballpark can be so relaxing!
If you’re feeling more athletic yourself, then join a co-ed team of some sort! This spring I’m playing softball (no, that’s not a typo!). You’ll definitely want to follow along on Snapchat for this one (@lesliepresnall). I played softball from age 5-17, but haven’t played in TEN years! It should be lots of fun, but I’m super competitive too.
I also tried kayaking for the first time a few weeks ago when I visited the Woodlands, so I’d love to have another go at it out at the LSU Lakes!

3. Stay out (and up) later
In the winter I’m so bad about getting in bed before 8 p.m. On a Friday or Saturday night, it’s a huge deal if I make it to 10 p.m. Now that the time has changed, I’m excited for more daylight, which will hopefully be the extra push I need to enjoy some later nights out with friends. If anything, I can just stay UP later binge watching Netflix or reading a book — two things I feel like I haven’t gotten enough of lately!
But speaking of staying out later, I’ll be hosting a few spring events with the Baton Rouge Fashion Council throughout the spring and summer. Our Spring Soiree is this Friday at Blend Wine Bar in downtown Baton Rouge! We’ll have a night of shopping new spring fashions with local boutiques, live music, wine tasting and sweet treats! For more info, check out the event page.

4. Attend (and eat my way through) festivals
Like I said last week, we have a reason to celebrate everything here in Louisiana! And spring is the BEST time to enjoy a few of our unique festivals and the amazing local food — including Jazz Fest, French Quarter Fest, the Baton Rouge Blues Festival, the Greek festival and SO many more. I didn’t get to attend a lot of my favorites last year, so I’m already writing the can’t miss ones on my calendar for the spring.

How do you celebrate spring? What events are you looking forward to? Any can’t miss festivals?
Outfit Information: Floral Print Wrap Midi Dress from Forever 21 (only $24.99) | Faux Leather Cutout Crossbody from Forever 21 (comes in three colors — only $22.99) | Call It Spring Adreliven Lace-Up Heels from JCPenney
The best part about this look is the entire outfit costs less than $100! I have to say I have a love-hate relationship with Forever 21. Just when I think I’m over Forever 21 and never shopping there again, they totally surprise me with something I love — like this wrap midi dress and cross body bag!
Shopping online with Forever 21 is definitely the way to do it — mainly because it’s way less digging.
This handbag is one of my new favorite spring accessories and at costing less than $23, you can’t beat it! I’ve actually seen this same bag at other stores like Sole Society costing up to $50!

My husband & I are brand new to Baton Rouge after just moving here at the beginning of this year, you mentioned so many things to do & see in this post so I’m very excited to check it all out!
Oh that’s awesome! Definitely try out Live After 5! It’s my favorite on Friday evenings.
So excited for spring too! And what a fab dress to wear to welcome spring!
