Snapchat is the Real Deal - Find me @lesliepresnall

Happy Monday, guys! Today I’m sharing another super affordable look from Old Navy AND my thoughts on Snapchat — how I use it, why I love it, and who I follow!

Southern Flair Selfie - How I use my favorite social media apps and who I love to follow!

A few years ago, I was SO anti-Snapchat. I thought it was only for middle-school kids and I assumed those adults who were on it were using it for nasty reasons.

Flash forward to 2016 and it’s my favorite social media platform, and if I was stranded on a desert island with only ONE app — Snapchat would be it.

How to use it: If you’re not familiar with Snapchat, basically, you can communicate with your friends through videos, photos, and texts. The message disappears after a max of 10 seconds. You can send pictures or videos directly to individual friends or post them to your “Story” for all your friends to see up to 24 hours.

I’ve found Snapchat to be one of the best ways to keep up with old friends — especially those college friends who live out of town now. Snapchat let’s you stay up to date with what they’re doing — even what they’re having for breakfast if that’s what you’re into.

I honestly feel closer to some of my friends who live in different cities or states just because we stay so connected through photos and videos on Snapchat — even though I haven’t seen them in months or years.

I even realized a while back my boyfriend and I would go DAYS without sending a text message, but we were constantly in contact through Snapchat — even if it was sending pics of our coffee, what we were currently watching on TV or other random things that made us think of each other.

But Snapchat isn’t just a fun alternative to text messaging. As a huge social media platform, Snapchat has turned into a business tool for many. It’s not just for personal use anymore and many bloggers and brands have hopped onto Snapchat to give us a behind-the-scenes look into day-to-day life.

I’ve even recently made my Snapchat public and started using it more as a blogging tool. You can find me at @lesliepresnall.

Why I Love it: I love Snapchat because it’s a no-BS app. It’s unedited real life. Blogs, Instagram, and Pinterest can give someone very unrealistic expectations and ideas of how “pretty” life is suppose to be. These apps can make bloggers’ lives seem super glamorous and perfect. But we all know that’s not real. Snapchat is bloggers without makeup and Photoshop and everyone just being really… well, real.

I’ve started following many bloggers on Snapchat and it’s weird at first to hear their voice or just to see them driving in their cars running every day errands. It’s nice to see they’re not perfect and they’re just normal people. If anything, Snapchat’s “real” factor makes me relate more to these bloggers who I’ve always thought were fashion blogging robots with perfect hair, skin, and nails.

How I use it: Southern Flair’s Snapchat offers a behind-the-scenes look into the Baton Rouge Fashion Council events, and I share sneak peeks into blog posts and little stories here and there throughout the day. I post some videos of the cutest Chihuahua in the world, a glimpse into my gym visits, and maybe what I’m having for dinner. Just normal everyday things that don’t make it onto the blog or Instagram. On weekends, I’ve been sharing what festival I’m at or my other favorite spring things to do in Baton Rouge.
