We’ve been engaged almost 2 months now and everyone is asking for wedding updates… and a date. So here we GO!
I thought I would get the ball rolling our houses (since we have two to sell) — thinking it would take months to sell and buy. Well, my house sold within a matter of HOURS of being listed on the market. So we had to quickly find a new house (more on that soon!) and we listed Michael’s house last week. If all goes to plan, we’ll be in our new house *very* soon, so we didn’t think there was any point in waiting aaaalll the way until next year.
August feels like enough time to plan - and it’s before football season, my birthday and the holidays. It just feels like a solid date.
I’ve looked at a few venues around Baton Rouge, but mostly I’d prefer an out-of-the-box venue. I’m sure it’s no surprise that I want a very bright, colorful and casual wedding vibe - so I really need the venue to match that vibe. A lot of the normal venues around Baton Rouge seem too “wedding venue-y” if that makes any sense at all?!
I don’t want a ton of decorations or flowers, just enough to pop. Plus, these venues have a lot going on any way, so that’s enough for me. I mainly care about my bouquet for a big pop of color.
As far as the actual planning, I’ve noticed myself going through spurts where I’ll make a ton of progress and be excited… then to run into a really hard decision and go back to “I don’t know” and stop planning altogether. As someone who plans her entire day/month/year down to the minute, I’m just NOT a good wedding planner. There are lots of ups and downs for sure. But I’ve only cried a handful of times, so that’s the positive side! Haha
So far, I DO have a wedding dress AND my shoes!
Do you have any other ideas for cool venues?! I’m also still looking for recs on caterers and cakes!
