Now that the Christmas decorations are up, it’s officially Carnival Season in Louisiana! Most people think of New Orleans when it comes to Mardi Gras (and for obvious and good reasons!), but Baton Rouge definitely has something to offer too. If you’re making travel plans to the South for Mardi Gras or if you’re a local, I’ll be bringing you the Southern Flair Guide to Baton Rouge Mardi Gras over the several weeks!
Today, I’m starting with the local parade schedules. It’s hard to believe they start so early this month! Artemis and Spanishtown are definitely my two not to miss. Artemis is great because it really kicks off parade season on a Friday night (but bundle up because it’s usually freezing) and Spanishtown is our BIG parade with all the crazy pink flamingos! (See last year’s post for a rundown of Spanishtown!)
