One of our favorite Baton Rouge boutiques recently made a BIG move — across the parking lot! Wanderlust By Abby (now at 4221 Perkins Road) has expanded into the most beautiful storefront that I’m excited to share today.
Abby Bullock started Wanderlust in the back of her 4Runner in 2014, then upgraded to a mobile boutique, and then her first storefront. Now, her new space has chandeliers, an amazing couch, a wine fridge, a full wall of Mimosa jewelry — and so much more.
How has Wanderlust evolved since opening… out of your 4Runner?
Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would be in this huge space let alone have employees. Soooooo much has evolved from the days of slinging racks, clothes and folding tables to do my 8 pop-ups a month — which by the way, no one knew what a pop-up was then. I definitely confused people — especially my dad! My biggest concern was how could I just squeeze one more thing in the car with still being able to see through the back window.
Then you kept upgrading?
From there I expanded to a fashion truck which allowed me to expand the pieces that I curated. I am proud to say that I could not see out of the back of that truck and never once did I get in a wreck.
I had been stalking my previous location since I started Wanderlust, so when it became available I pounced on it. It was the perfect space to dip my toe into the brick-and-mortar life.
Tell us about the new space!
The new space is AMAZING!!!! We have soooo much more room so we can carry sooooo much more! With all the extra space, we will be carrying more of a variety of new items including home goods and extended sizes in the lines we already have.
We have FOUR dressing rooms, a kitchenette with a FULLY STOCKED wine fridge and a bathroom that does not double for extra storage for shoes.
What’s your favorite part of the new store?
My favorite part is my office for sure. I actually have a space to do all the behind-the-scenes work instead of doing it at the cash wrap. When I first sat in here with my freshly put together World Market desk and chair, I started tearing up. I immediately set my intentions of gratitude and just embraced how thankful and blessed I am.
What can we expect from Wanderlust By Abby in 2021?
Nothing but excitement!!! We will be bringing back our vintage rack, hosting more private parties and having super tent sales. The sky is the limit, and I am just ready to take my creativity and determination to the next level.
