We can’t get enough of the Food Truck scene in Baton Rouge. Today, we asked local food trucks to share their MOST POPULAR menu items so you know EXACTLY what to grab next time you’re grabbing lunch or at a food truck round up! Keep reading for the most popular Baton Rouge Food Truck Dishes!
When we were brainstorming post ideas — food trucks seemed like a no-brainer. There are so many food truck round-up events happening around town, so the question we had was WHAT DO YOU GET TO EAT?!
Jessica hit the streets (and social media) to ask the food truck chefs what their BEST and MOST POPULAR menu items were… and of course, the easiest way we can find them and eat them!
So I’m handing it off to Jessica now for the most popular Baton Rouge Food Truck Dishes, according to the food truck chefs!
1- Rouge-A-Roux’s Irie Po’Boy
Rouge-A-Roux’s serves authentically crafted Cajun cuisine with its NEWEST most popular dish being the Irie Po’boy.
Cory Hebert of Rouge-A-Rouxs said, “Aside from the Goudin Ball or the crowd favorite Howler Po’boy, this is our newest addition to our lineup that is quickly becoming a favorite around the Red Stick.”

2- Layla’s BBQ Pitmaster Sandwich
Who doesn’t love an all-American meal? Layla’s BBQ and Lagniappe specializes in authentic Texas-style BBQ.
It’s a combination of pulled pork, smoked brisket and smoked sausage dressed with coleslaw, fresh jalapeños and red onions.
Top it off with some of their homemade BBQ sauces. Cheese is optional and includes smoked gouda, pepper jack or cheddar queso.
As a bonus, their most popular SIDE DISH is their bacon, jalapeño and three cheese smoked Mac and cheese. It can be added to any entree!
Where To Find Layla’s BBQ:
The Layla’s BBQ trailer is set up in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas and is a registered food truck with BREC parks. You can also find them at Perkins Rowe’s Food Truck Roundups as well as tournaments at Burbank Soccer Field.
3- Taco de Paco’s Blackened Mahi
Taco de Paco has been a Baton Rouge favorite for a few years now. Their versatility as gained quite the food truck fan base here, and they cater to six private events per week.
Jeff Landry, the owner of Taco de Paco, says he has done events as simple as a four-year-old’s birthday party and as a sizable to a wedding reception feeding 250+ people.
“Our menu and prices vary based on the type of event we are doing,” Jeff said. “We get as casual or elegant as the customer desires.”
Another popular dish is the Juan that consists of fresh ground sirloin with smoked corn and black salsa, poblano pico de gale and chipotle crème.
4- Cupcake Allie’s Pecan Pie Cupcake
Started by Allie Offner Bookman, a former teacher with a degree in design, Cupcake Allie proudly offers several dozen cupcake recipes.
They said their most popular item is by far the Pecan Pie Cupcake!
The Pecan Pie Cupcake is the perfect combination between a muffin and a cake. It’s made with brown sugar, crushed pecans and just a touch of butter, which bakes into the perfect cupcake!
They top the cupcake with a creamy pecan praline fudge so that the first bite tastes just like you’re eating Grandma’s pie for dinner!
Where To Find Cupcake Allie:
The truck goes to many local businesses for corporate events. They’ve been at Chloe’s Snowballs food truck round ups in Zachary on Friday nights. During the fall, they spend Friday lunches in downtown Baton Rouge on Main Street.
5- Fete au Fete’s Trash Grits + Crawfish Poutine
In the mood for classic Louisiana comfort food? Fete au Fete’s most popular dishes are the Trash Grits and Crawfish Poutine!
The Crawfish Poutine is deep fried, crawfish boil new potatoes topped with Pepper Jack cheese and their buttery, creamy crawfish étouffée!
Where To Find Fete au Fete:
Their truck can be found full-time on campus at LSU any time school is in session. They also have a permanent location in the new White Star Market on Government Street.
