Maybe it’s the all denim look here that gives off that Western vibe or the hints of spring that’s got me excited for summer adventures, but I’m really feeling a trip out West is in the works!

Taking a long road trip has been on my bucket list for forever and I’m happy to say it’s finally happening! Plus, I know if I type it out in this post for the world to see, then I have to follow through — just for the sake of maintaining Southern Flair as a credible, reliable source!

My best friend and I traveled to Europe a few summers ago and started itching for another adventure recently. She’s getting married in August, so in my opinion she needs one last crazy rodeo before the big day! And for me, I just like to travel — I drive the same 20 miles every day to work, so I wouldn’t mind some new scenery for a change.

Our original plan was a trip through Spain, Portugal and Morocco. While traveling to Africa has been a big dream for a long time (thanks to Kate Hudson from Almost Famous!), it didn’t seem doable at this point. She’s the midst of planning for a wedding, and we couldn’t seem to get anything worked out with dates or good deals on flights. So that dream pretty much died.

But with our European/African adventure dream dying (hopefully it will come back to life in a few years), our Western road trip idea came about.

Let me give you the rundown of how it will go: two girls, a minivan, audiobooks, national parks, and lots of Taylor Swift.

Mostly we find the idea of us riding across the country in a minivan hysterical. We’ll have lots of time in the car (more than 45 hours!) so we will have plenty of time for some T.Swift jam sessions and audiobooks (all recommendations welcome!).

Our current plan is to start in either Denver or Vegas (by flight) and drive in a full circle all the way back. We’ll hit The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Zion & Yellowstone National Parks, Salt Lake City, Pikes Peak and lots lots more in 16 days.

We’re currently using Roadtrippers and Pinterest to plan it all out, but I would love to hear any of your suggestions for must-see places or good places to eat or stay! We’re also huge fans of cheesy roadside attractions (World’s Largest Acorn, anyone?).

Wearing all denim is such an easy go-to for the spring! These ripped white jeans are so stretchy and literally now one of the most comfortable pair of jeans I own (they might be just the perfect pair for my road trip!)! And at less than $30, you can’t beat it.

Plus, with the back being out in this top, I know it will be a summer staple for me in this Louisiana heat.
