When it comes to summers in South Louisiana, we rarely get a break from the rain. You can almost bet on it raining daily — sometimes even several times daily. Just when you think you can take out the straighter and hope for a good hair day — the rain pours in around 3 p.m. But that’s not the worst part. The worst part is after the rain when it’s hot, muggy, and SO humid. Then your once straight hair is now a frizzy curly mess.
However, after spending 26 years in this weather, I’ve learned a few tricks to tame frizzy hair. Check out today’s full post for my three easy steps to control your frizzy hair and beat the humidity. I’ve also included three bonus styling tips!
1. Choose a frizz-fighting shampoo and conditioner
The first step to controlling frizzy hair happens in the shower. Choosing moisturizing shampoos with oils or silicones can combat frizzy hair, so these products are great for humid climates or rainy days.
Hydration and moisture are key, and it may be worth it to take a few extra minutes in the shower to let your conditioner sit in your hair before rinsing.
Living Proof’s frizz shampoo and conditioner are powered by the Healthy Hair Molecule, which actually blocks humidity 70% better than silicones and oils! I chose to try out these products thanks to all the rainy weather we’ve been having lately, and they’ve worked great when it comes to smoothing out my hair even on the most humid days.
*Bonus Tip: Try washing your hair less often. Washing your hair every other day (or every couple days if you have thicker hair) can be beneficial when it comes to keeping your hair hydrated and taming the frizzes.
2. Use a styling cream on damp hair
Living Proof’s Nourishing Styling Cream can be a life-saver on humid days. Using styling creams in general are a must to smooth your hair, but I’ve really enjoyed using this specific product lately. I have really thin, fine hair, so it doesn’t take much of this cream for me. It makes my hair incredibly soft without making it greasy.
*Bonus Tip: Gently dry your hair with a towel and let it air dry. Heat from your dryer can often cause more unwanted frizziness before even stepping outside. If you don’t have the time for your hair to air dry, use your dryer on the cool setting, and make sure your hair is completely dry before heading out the door.
3. Find a humidity-blocking hairspray
After your hair is completely dry, seal the deal and control the little frizzy fly-aways with a humidity-blocking hairspray.
I’ve never been much of a hairspray person, but I’ve been trying Living Proof’s frizz humidity shield spray post rain storms and it’s really worked to keep things under control. It’s super lightweight and it even protects your hair from UV damage.
*Bonus Tip: Spray hairspray on your comb before using it! This will help smooth the tiny frizzy hairs down and hold them in place.

I’m going to have to try these out, in Alabama we suffer from the same maladies! I can’t stand my hair becoming frizzy after I’ve worked so hard to straighten it.

I use and love all of these products from Living Proof! I wasn’t a huge fan of the shampoo and conditioner because I don’t love the smell, but they do their job!
Great post!
