How To Host A Mardi Gras Baby Shower

Mardi Gras Themed Baby Shower

This year, I’m partnering with Party Time for a few seasons and holidays — starting with Mardi Gras! And it worked out nicely, because I actually had a party to plan! My best friend Maggie’s baby is due in March, so I threw her a Mardi Gras themed-baby shower this January.

We picked Bistro Byronz as our location (because hellooooo King Cake bread pudding), and even though they’re a local restaurant, I still wanted to add in some Mardi Gras-themed decor.

We reserved their small private room, so we didn’t have a ton of space or need much, but I loved the little pops of Mardi Gras that we added.

As soon as we decided on the theme, Maggie designed her own invitations that said “Maggie Got the Baby!” (how cute is that!?), then I took a trip to Party Time to see what I could find. The best part is I got EVERYTHING we needed for the shower at Party Time - decorations (Mardi Gras and Baby Shower-themed) and balloons, plus some bowls, plates and napkins. One stop and I was DONE!

Party Time is located on Bluebonnet at Airline, and they have aisles of Mardi Gras decor for you to peruse (including lots of pink for Spanish Town). For February, they’ll have 50% off all Mardi Gras hats, plus the week of 2/15, when you spend $40 you’ll receive a free Mardi Gras jester headband. Then the week of 2/22, get 50% off a full costume!

I got beads, napkins, bowls, plates, a photo backdrop, floral embellishments for our “mock flowers” and beads from this section. Then I headed over the real baby shower aisle where I found this Mom-To-Be glitter sign, which also seemed pretty festive to me!

We used vases on the tables and filled them with beads, plastic babies, poms and such. We also scattered masquerade masks along the table.

And how cute are these Mom to Be beads?! I found those on the Baby Shower aisle and they were perfect! We also threw in some St. Patrick’s beads because that’s when the baby is due! :)

Over the Moon Pies
This was our spread! And my personal favorite part of the shower - the favors! Since moon pies are thrown at parades, I made this little sign that says “Over the Moon Pie” - and it went great with our purple and green and moon balloons! That was our little creative way of combining Mardi Gras with Baby Shower - aside from just King Cake babies.

And for your viewing pleasure, here’s a little King Cake bread pudding! Now, if you want to go all out, Party Time has a pretty epic baking section as well — they’ve got the purple, green and yellow sanding sugar too. I checked ;)

Thanks to Party Time for sponsoring today’s post and helping me plan this special day for my best friend! You can check out their website here.
