LSU Purple & Gold Sprinkle Cookies

Today, we’re making LSU purple & gold sprinkle cookies using a simple sugar cookie recipe! These will be PERFECT for game day!

True Confession: I’m addicted to Great American Cookie Company’s sprinkle cookies. Especially those double doozie ones with the frosting in the middle. OMG.

It’s hard for me to drive past Tanger Outlets and NOT stop… or have the willpower to keep walking right by them in the Mall of Louisiana. The STRUGGLE!

Really the only thing that’d make those cookies better is IF they were LSU game day colors — purple & gold!

So that’s exactly what I did today. How fun would these be to bring to a game day party? And they won’t melt, so they’re perfect to bring out to the tailgate too.

SUGAR COOKIES:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Purple Sprinkles
  • Yellow Sprinkles

INSTRUCTIONS:

1- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2- Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.

3- In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; set aside.

4- In a large mixer bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy.

5- Beat in egg and vanilla extract.

6- Gradually beat in flour mixture.

8- In a separate small bowl, mix your purple and gold sprinkles together.

9- Roll dough into tablespoon size balls.

10- Roll dough around in purple and gold sprinkles — coating the entire ball.

11- Place on parchment paper about a couple inches apart.

12- Gently press the back of a spoon into the dough.

13- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until cookies are puffed and slightly golden at edges.

And that’s it! Let ’em cool a bit. I removed mine from the pan onto a cooling rack. Look how festive they are!
