ACM Red Carpet Looks

If you’ve been browsing the Internet today, you may have seen some pictures from last night’s ACM awards in Las Vegas. I have the show waiting on my DVR to be watched tonight, but I wanted to post some of my favorite and not-so-favorite looks that I’ve seen so far.

Favorites:
Little Taylor is all grown up! I love her (seriously, she’s my favorite. Ever.) and this J. Mendel gown. She looks so shiny! Favorite look of the night.

Carrie Underwood — stunning as usual.

I’m really not that fond of Miranda’s dress here (it kind of reminds me of a metallic snake), but I love them together. So they make the favorites list as a pair. I would like this look even better if it were me instead of her on Blake’s arm….

Worst Looks:

She looks great, but the dress is pretty awful. I’m not feeling the fuchsia and fringe. Sorry, Carrie.

Holiday Recap

That was a fast two weeks! Back to the daily grind today — got lots of homework and lesson plans. I need a vacation from my vacation. I ate entirely too much food & spent too many hours driving back and forth between home and New Orleans. Aaand get to do it all over again this weekend for the national championship! Geaux Tigers!

I loved the idea of this when I saw it on Pinterest. Taking a picture every single day and documenting your year. Whether it’s photos of friends, vacations, food, a new haircut, or just a new pair of shoes you bought, it’s the best way to remember little things and happy moments throughout the year.

This album is from Urban Outfitters and provides lines to describe your photos. You could do this with any album or make a scrapbook. If you’re not so good about printing pictures, there’s also 365project.org, which is free to use. You could also post photos on your blog or start a Facebook album.

Thoughts on this project? It seems like a lot of work, but I bet the end result is amazing. Instead of flying though 2012, it will help you cherish the little things. I can’t wait to start today! Happy New Year!

New Obsession: Wanelo

Have you heard of Wanelo? I recently discovered this site while procrastinating, and it may be just as distracting and addicting as Pinterest. It’s a lot like Pinterest — you can bookmark and post any products you like. There’s a ton of unique items and gadgets, and it’s linked directly to the store’s site. So instead of “pinning” DIY projects onto boards that you know you’ll probably never get around to actually doing, you can easily just purchase these items. You can follow people and stores, save items, and see what’s the most popular. SO addicting!

All I want for Christmas is a National Championship (and another roll of duct tape)

Three hours and two rolls of duct tape later, I present you my LSU-themed classroom door for the Christmas Door Decorating contest — complete with a “Let it Sneaux” sign and a honeybadger.

I was sure we’d place, but we didn’t even get an honorable mention. That’s what I get for making a sports-themed door for a bunch of women judges. I’m not bitter or anything. The kids seemed to enjoy it, and that’s what matters, I suppose. Even though I had to constantly answer “Ms. P, what does snox mean?” Try explaining “sneaux” to North Louisiana 6th graders. I also kept getting ask why there was a skunk in the snow…

There’s nothing duct tape and I can’t handle. Just wait until you see my classroom volcano…

Thanksgiving Break Snapshot

Today is my last day of Thanksgiving break, and it will be a fun-filled day of writing lesson plans and grading papers. I believe I needed this break more than my students — I was definitely more excited than them. Only three weeks until Christmas. Let’s start the countdown now.

Velvet is such an odd fabric that I have mixed emotions about. It could stem from the horrible velvet black pants I used to wear in middle school. Nonetheless, velvet from head to toe terrifies me, but I’m all on board for little touches of velvet here and there.
